Objective: to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and academic achievement of medical student class of 2011 Muhammadiyah Makassar University year 2015.Method:. used a cross-sectional design with 73 students as samples were taken by using total sampling technique. Emotional intelligence data obtained by filling out the questionnaire and the learning achievement of students by grade point average (GPA) data. then analyzed using Chi square test and using alternative test Two-Sample Kolmogorov-Smirnovt est Result:The number of samples involved in this study were 73 people. Most of the samples were female with a number of 58 persons (79.5%), aged 19-22 years respectively as many as 66 people (90.4%). The highest level of emotional intelligence 54 people (74%), and highest learning achievement as many as 36 people (49.3%).Conclusion: The results of a statistical test with p = 0.00. this shows that there is a relationship between emotional intelligence and academic achievement in medical student class of 2011 Muhammadiah Makassar University in 2015.
