Objective: To determine the effect of smoking activity with incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus in RSUD Syekh Yusuf Gowa and RSUD Salewangang Maros in January to Februai 2015. Methods: The study was an observational analytic cross-sectional design. The sample is type 2 diabetes patients in RSUD Syekh Yusuf Gowa and RSUD Salewangang Maros in January to February 2015 were taken using a non-propability sampling technique. Data were obtained from the records of the medic and interviews were analyzed using Chi square test and using alternative test such as Two-Sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and Fisher's Exact test. Results: The number of samples involved in this study were 47 people. Most of the samples aged 55- 85 years as many as 25 people (53.2%), male sex with a number of 26 persons (55.3%). Activity smoke that most are not smoking as much as 25 people (53.2%) and type 2 diabetes mellitus as many as 38 people (80.9%). Conclusion: In this study, the results obtained by statistical test p value = 0.772. It showed no effect of smoking activity with type 2 Diabetes mellitus in RSUD Syekh Yusuf Gowa and RSUD Salewangang Maros in January to February 2015.
