<note>Hypertension is a systolic blood pressure (SBP) of 140 mm Hg or more, or a diastolic
blood pressure (DBP) of 90 mm Hg or more, or taking antihypertensive medication.
Hypertension is a global public health issue and it contributes to the burden of heart
disease, stroke and kidney failure and premature mortality and disability. Many
guidelines exist for the management of hypertension. Most groups, including the
JNC recommend lifestyle modification which is dietary hypertension as the first step
in managing hypertension. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship
between patient’s knowledge about hypertension with the adherence to dietary
hypertension in Polyclinic Interna Syekh Yusuf Regional Public Hospital. This study
used a cross-sectional design with a number of research subjects were 64
respondents. A questionnaire is needed to fulfill all of the variables needed.
The majority of respondents are in between 41-60 years old (50%), Senior High
School graduated (34,4%), have a good level of knowledge (82,8%) and have a good
level of compliance (76,6%). Using a chi square test obtained ρ=o,266 > (α=0,05)
which means there is no significant relationship between patient’s knowledge about
hypertension with the adherence to dietary hypertension in Polyclinic Interna Syekh
Yusuf Regional Public Hospital.
