 <note>Objective: Knowing the influence of cataract occurrence with high blood sugar levels in patients
with diabetes from the medical record in Eye Health Community Center of South Sulawesi.
Method: This study used a cross-sectional design.The data was taken by patient‟s medical
recording using random sampling technique. Data were analyzed on SPSS for windows version
21.
Result: Based on the results of research in Community Eye Health Center in 2014 of the total
respondents as many as 296 people (100%) there were 52 people (100%) who had a history of
Diabetes Mellitus there are 49 persons (94.2%) were suffering from cataracts and 3 (5 , 8%) who
did not suffer from cataracts. While the 244 people (100%) who had normal GDS there were 65
people (26.6%) who did not suffer from cataracts and 179 people (77.7%) were suffering from
cataracts.
Conclusion: The results of a statistical test with a p-value of 0.000. This means that there is a
relationship between diabetes mellitus and the incidence of cataracts in Eye Health Community
Center of South Sulawesi 2014.
