 <note>BACKGROUND: One of the indicators of one of the successful development of the fetus during pregnancy is weight newborns. Birth weight is the interaction of various factors through a process that takes place in the womb.

OBJECTIVE: To determine factors associated with LBW in RSIA Siti Khadidjah I of Makassar in 2012 that parity, age and education.

METHODS: This type of research is descriptive research which is a picture of a situation objectively. to find out LBW in the Maternal and Child Hospital Sitti Hadidjah I Makassar City in 2012. A total of 148 respondents by performing mutilations medic record with respect to the variables studied.

RESULTS: The results based on the classification of LBW that BBLER only 9 respondents (6.1), VLBW infants 10 respondents (6.8), and more LBW ie 129 respondents (87.2). Distribution of respondents by parity, parity low at ≤ 3 by 77 respondents or 52%, and high parity ie 71 respondents, or 48.0% with a statistical test where there is no relationship. Distribution of respondents berdsarkan age, age  35 respondents (27.5%) with statistical test results showed the p value = 0.039 means ha accepted there is a relationship between age and the incidence of low birth weight. Distribution of respondents by education junior ≤ 48 respondents (32.4%) high school were 62 respondents (41.9%) were more dominant&gt; High School were 38 respondents (25.7%) where Ho is accepted it means there is no relationship.
