Background: Javanese tree Lannea coromandelica is believed to have a curing effect to various diseases, and is often used as a treatment in a wide range of injuries. According to phytochemical studies, tree bark of Javanese tree Lannea coromandelica has been reported to contain certain compounds of carbohydrates, steroids, alkaloids, cardiac glycosides, terpenoids, tannins,flavonoids, caumarins and is an antimicrobial agent. Objective: To determine the sensitivity of cortex of Javanese tree Lannea coromandelica to Escherichia coli bacteria. Methods: This is an experimental study that adding cortex extract of Javanese tree Lannea coromandelica to Escherichia coli bacteria and determine the sensitivity with disk-diffusion method or the paper disk with a concentration of 1250 ppm, 2500 ppm and 5000 ppm respectively. Results: Cortex extract of Javanese tree Lannea coromandelica with a concentration of 1250 ppm, 2500 ppm and 5000 pmm is 9.85 mm, 11.26 mm and 14.11 in 9 replication that tends to be weak according to the greenwood classification. Conclusion: Cortex extract of Javanese tree Lannea coromandelica have an antimicrobial effect, or in other words, is sensitive to the Escherichia coli bacteria.
