 <note>Objective: To know the correlation between stress level and academic achievement of first year medical
students in Muhammadiyah University Makassar. Method: This study used a cross-sectional design, with 46
students who measured levels of stress with DASS 42 (Depression Anxiety Stress Scale 42). The sampling
technique is total sampling. Result: The number of samples involved in this study were 45 respondents.
Most of the samples were classified as academic stress as many as 38 people (84.4%) and the results of a
statistical test showed that p = 0.225 (p &gt; 0.05) which meant that there was not a relation between stress
level and academic achievement of first year medical students in Muhammadiyah University Makassar. This
was due because one that affects effects of stress are the ability of manage stress and adaptive response.
Conclusion: From the result, it can be concluded that there was not a relation between stress level and
academic achievement of first year medical students in Muhammadiyah University Makassar.
